I’m Katreece, but most people call me Kat. I’m the Founder and Managing Director of Kat Compliance Group LLC, where I help small and growing businesses navigate the often-overlooked world of business compliance.

My path into compliance wasn’t traditional; it was personal.

As a multi‑DBA business owner myself, I’ve lived the confusion, the overwhelm, and the “I wish someone would just explain this clearly” moments that so many entrepreneurs face. I’ve navigated the maze of registrations, filings, deadlines, and state‑specific rules while running my own brands and I know firsthand how heavy compliance can feel when you’re trying to build a business you love.

That lived experience is what shaped Kat Compliance Group. I built this firm to be the resource I wish I had when I started.

Part of what inspired me to start Kat Compliance Group was a moment early in my own business journey. I once missed a New York sales tax filing for an amount so small that the interest came out to just $0.03, but the penalty was $50.

When you’re still trying to get your business off the ground, fifty dollars feels like a lot to lose over a simple mistake. It was frustrating, discouraging, and honestly, it hurt. And what made it worse was realizing that I could have requested penalty abatement, but no one had ever explained that to me.

That experience stayed with me.

But as I continued running multiple DBAs and connecting with other small business owners, I realized my situation wasn’t unique. I started seeing a much bigger pattern.

Too many small business owners were:

• confused about their obligations

• overwhelmed by state and local rules

• afraid of making mistakes

• unsure who to trust

• getting conflicting advice online

• and paying penalties simply because no one explained things clearly

I knew there had to be a better way.

I wanted to create a firm where entrepreneurs could get clear, accessible, judgment‑free guidance; the kind of support that empowers them instead of intimidating them.
